Draw out the skin's innate moisturising abilities
It is important for the tight junctions formed in the skin’s granular layer to work properly if a normal barrier function is to be maintained.
What are tight junctions?
They are a “cell adhesion device” that forms belt-like shapes around the granular cells.
Tight junctions keep cells within the granular layer firmly held together, prevent moisture loss, and prevent foreign bodies from entering the skin.
The skin’s barrier function performs normally and there are no gaps in the horny layer provided that the tight junctions are properly formed in the granular layer when cell turnover occurs.
Peony Root Extract strengthens the tight junctions, thereby keeping the barrier function working properly and the skin full of moisture.
Claudin protein (main component of tight junctions) synthesis promoting effect
This is a representation of the synthesis of the Claudin proteins that exist within epidermal cells.
Adding Peony Root Extract has been shown to promote the synthesis of Claudin proteins (orange areas).
Glyceryl Glucoside promotes the creation of aquaporin, which are reduced by the effects of ageing and ultraviolet rays. This allows the skin itself to more readily absorb moisture, protecting itself from dryness.
What are aquaporin?
They are “water channels” within the cell membranes.
Water flows through the aquaporin, carrying nutrients and keeping the skin moisturised.
Finely textured skin is moisturised and has excellent self-protection functions.
It is important to make sure the horny layer contains sufficient levels of moisture to keep the skin’s texture fine.
Pear Extract has a moisturising effect and also promotes cell turnover. This increases moisture levels in the horny layer and leads to finely textured, smooth, and bright skin.
The dermis and epidermis layers of skin function properly if they are firmly joined together by the basal membrane.
A damaged basal membrane is linked to a disrupted turnover rate and a lowered barrier function.
Basement Protection Ingredient promotes the production of basal membrane materials and reduces damage to the basal membrane. This protects the basal membrane and keeps the skin’s functions working properly.

Low irritant formula for sensitive skin
There are many different skin conditions that fall in-between “normal skin” and “damaged skin”.
These skin types are not obviously “damaged”, but they often react negatively to environmental factors (such as dryness or changes in temperature), internal factors (such as stress), or irritants (such as chemicals or sweat).
The highly moisturising Glucosyl Ceramide fills in between horny skin cells, quickly leading to moisturised skin. Also, Glasswort Extract maintains a normal barrier function by strengthening the formation of the cornified envelope.
What is the cornified envelope?
It is a rigid membrane which covers the horny skin cells. As part of the turnover process, cells become wrapped in the rigid membrane. This forms the horny layer and its strong barrier function. However, sensitivity and ageing can result in the horny layer not forming correctly. This leads to variation in the size and shape of horny skin cells.
Camomile Flower Extract prevents inflammation so that the skin is not damaged.
Also, to be considerate to sensitive skin types, NATURAL TREAT utilises an “additive-free design” which excludes ingredients known to often cause inflammation.
Persimmon Leaf Extract relieves irritation by reducing the substance (NGF) which causes extended nerve fibres, which is believed to be a cause of sensitive skin.
